Financial Modelling using Microsoft Excel 2016

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Spreadsheets have been an indispensable tool for working executives for many years. Many working executives are already familiar with using Microsoft Excel to create simple spreadsheet solutions to answer basic questions. These solutions are created using the basic functions of Microsoft Excel. This course will build on the basic knowledge of the participants to formulate more complex models. Participants will first be introduced to the conceptual framework surrounding the creation of financial models. Participants will then be taught the more advanced functions and tools available in Microsoft Excel.

PRE-REQUISITE KNOWLEDGE

In order for participants to get the full benefits of attending this course, a basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required. This knowledge should include the following:

  1. The Excel screen, menus and toolbars
  2. Creating and saving a new workbook and opening an existing
  3. workbook
  4. Moving around a worksheet and between different
  5. worksheets in a workbook
  6. Using multiple workbooks
  7. Entering labels, text, numbers and dates
  8. Formatting columns and rows
  9. Formatting data (changing alignments, font type, size, colour, date and number formats, etc)
  10. Entering formula and using functions
  11. Relative and absolute referencing

METHODOLOGY
This course has been developed to ensure that it is conducted in an interactive and hands-on manner. Numerous practical exercises will be provided by the instructor to illustrate and reinforce the various topics covered. Participants will be given the opportunity to develop practical skills in formulating financial models that they can use in their workplace.

TRAINER
Mr Chia Kee Tong has many years of experience in areas of accountancy, audit and IT solutions. He is a Certified Public Accountant with ICPAS and CPA Australia and is well versed with accounting and spreadsheet packages like MYOB, ACCPAC, LOTUS 123 and Microsoft Excel. Kee Tong has been conducting training since his career in Moore Stephens. As a Director of Complete Corporate Services Pte Ltd, he coordinated and conducted the annual training programme for the Audit Division of Moore Stephens.
